This is where I would put my caption about the picture.

Crossing Worlds Hopi Projects

News & Cultural Info

March 28, 2024

Hello to our Hopi Projects circle.

I was in appreciation of all the energies that went into our 20th annual Hopi Holiday Project as I went through the photos many of you shared with me and posted them onto the 2018 Photo page.  Plans are underway for the 2019 Hopi Holiday Project which is tentatively set for Sunday Dec. 15, 2019.

This month, we delivered supplies in support for  the Mishongnovi Home Dance (thank you to Hugh and Lainie Hoglan for delivering) and the Shungopavi Home Dance (thanks to June Rettinger for this delivery).

We made a $1000 donation in support of the great work of the Hopi Education Endowment Fund.  We also sent needed supplies to Hopi Foster Care.

We have dedicated $1,500 for purchasing replica ancestral Hopi flutes for a program to teach Hopis how to play them managed by the Hopi Cultural Preservation Office in coordination with Verde Valley Archaeology Center and a grant from Arizona Humanities.  More about his in next newsletter.

School Supplies

The Hopi youth return to school this week. We have purchased school supplies that were shipped to Hopi community leaders in Shungopavi and First Mesa for distribution.

I will be making posts on Facebook seeking community support for this so we can expand the youth support.  Thank you all for “liking” and sharing the Crossing Worlds Hopi Project Facebook posts regarding School Supply Donations.  I will anchor it to the top of the page, so it is easy to find.

Coming up in September there will be Indian Day programs in the elementary schools and a special Head Start one which is held at the main tribal community building near Kykotsmovi.  I will find out the date in case anyone might want to attend.  If we raise school supply funds, we could consider sending gifts to the Head Start Kids as we have done in previous years.

I will be sending another newsletter soon with info about fall at Hopi and the start up of our Hopi Holiday Project.

Fruitful Summer to you all.
